Who's who

Co-Founder & Director: Phil Jones

Phil is an experienced software architect, programmer and network engineer. Phil founded PAD Technology along with David Minnis, bringing together their wealth of experience of software and electrical hardware technologies.

Phil can provide expertise in software development on multiple platforms and in a range of different languages, including Java, Python, Perl, C++ and JavaScript. He is a seasoned web developer with extensive knowledge of web application development and design, HTML, CSS and JQuery.

Phil is able to provide consultancy for PLC software development with a focus on CoDeSys programming. By developing bespoke function blocks, written in structured text, Phil can implement robust algorithms and logic to solve problems in the real time control of electomechanical processes. Examples include the development of PID optimisation solutions for PV export and the implementation of Modbus communications for interrogating and controlling external devices.

In a separate strand of his work, Phil is an experienced Bioinformatics Software Engineer with experience in both Proteomics and Genomics, gained from three years at the Medical Research Council in Oxford, nine years working at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridgeshire and 3 years at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, working on projects as diverse as the PRIDE Proteomics Identifications Database, the InterPro database and the Deciphering Developmental Disorders (DDD) project.
