PAD Technology develops solutions for renewable energy. We have expertise in both mains electrical hardware and software development and can help you to develop the bespoke solution that you need to get your idea off the ground.
Who's Who
Co-Founder & Director: Phil Jones
Phil is an experienced software architect, programmer and network engineer. Phil founded PAD Technology along with David Minnis, bringing together their wealth of experience of software and electrical hardware engineering.
Over the last 11 years, Phil has been the architect, developer and maintainer of multiple software platforms for the renewable energy industry. Developments include systems for the cloud based collection of massive energy datasets, as well as custom-built data concentrator devices able to collect data from a wide variety of devices. Phil can provide expertise in software development and software architecture design. He has experience of multiple platforms and in a range of different languages, including Java, Python, Perl and JavaScript / Typescript. He is a seasoned web developer with extensive knowledge of web application development and design.
Phil is able to provide consultancy for PLC software development. Phil can implement robust algorithms and logic to solve problems in the real time control of electromechanical processes. Examples include the development of PID optimisation solutions for PV export limitation and the implementation of Modbus communications for interrogating and controlling external devices.
Philip spent 20 years working in academic Genetics / Bioinformatics (computational biology) with multiple publications in this domain.

Co-Founder & DIRECTOR: David Minnis
David founded PAD technology along with Philip after many years of experience in the electrical industry. David is an expert in electrical hardware engineering and fabrication, specialising in developing bespoke products for the control, isolation and protection of photovoltaic installations.
Production manager - Virtu Tubes: Karen Munyard
Karen is a highly experienced team and business level manager, focusing on delivery of high value projects to customers.
Her core background is in team leadership, enabling great people to achieve their best. Her early work for Teledyne e2v was in the high reliability test and verification of semiconductor sensors for imaging, in ground and space based applications. This encompassed planning, commissioning and verification, ensuring the products met key requirements in quality and performance. In later years she led the same team by managing workloads, supporting development and driving a focus on quality and a commitment to technical excellence and mastery.
Karen joined PAD Technology in July 2021 to take on the new challenge to kick start and manage the production of Virtu tubes for Naked Energy.
